Chances are the first car you drove was a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe. If you want to drive a real gas-powered one that you can sit in comfortably, now is your chance.

Geof Bitmead and his brother John built a larger size road legal car in 2013 from a Daewoo Matiz, mostly as an advertising tool for their business Attitude Autos in England.

“We were hoping it would be out on a regular basis, create some revenue and recoup the money used to build it,” said Geof to BBC. It reportedly cost about £30,000 ($59,900) to build. “But in real life, it ended up going out four or five times in two years. So we thought we might as well sell it and if anyone’s interested in buying it, that will bring back some money for us.”

They have placed an ad on eBay with a price of £21,500 ($42,920).

The car – painted the traditional red and yellow just like the plastic kiddie version – is listed as a 2000 Crazy Coupe, and has been driven more than 8,000 kilometres over the past two years, mostly to shows and charity events.

The ad states that, while not being fast, it is fun to drive and has “people queuing up to take photos along dual carriageways and highways on every trip.”

Geof Bitmead told The BBC people are captivated by the car because it is a part of their childhood and their children’s childhood.

“They’re amazed to see the real thing on the road,” he said. “Everybody recognized it. It’s part of our life. We see these things in people’s front gardens, and now you can see it on the road.”

The car comes with airbags, goes 0-100 km/h in 17 seconds and can hit 110 km/h, but has no windshields, so it may not be the best option for a rainy climate.

So far, there have been no offers.

The Bitmeads hope to use the profits from the Little Tikes to build an Addams Family-inspired ‘creepy’ camper van.
